بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي أَمْرِ الْكِلَابِ
What is Reported Regarding the Matter of Dogs
Hadith 1768
حَدَّثَنِي مَالِك، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ ، أَنَّ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَزْدِ شَنُوءَةَ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ نَاسًا مَعَهُ عِنْدَ بَاب الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ زَرْعًا وَلَا ضَرْعًا، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ " . قَالَ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : إِي وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Zuhair, may Allah be pleased with him, and he was a man from the tribe of Shanū’ah and a companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he was relating hadith to the people at the door of the Prophet’s Mosque. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “Whoever keeps a dog, not for the purpose of guarding crops nor for guarding sheep, then every day there will be a decrease and loss in his deeds equal to one qirat.” Sa’ib bin Yazid asked Sayyiduna Sufyan, may Allah be pleased with him: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of this mosque.
Hadith 1769
وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِك، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبًا ضَارِيًا أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a hunting dog or a dog for the fields, then every day there will be a reduction and loss of two qirats from his deeds."
Hadith 1770
وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِك، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered the killing of dogs.
