It is narrated from Humaid bin Qais Makki that the two sons of Ja'far bin Abi Talib came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said to their nurse: "What is the reason these boys are thin?" She replied: "O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! They are affected by the evil eye, and we have not performed incantations for them because we do not know whether you like it or not." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Perform incantations for them, because if anything could overtake destiny, it would be the evil eye."

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went to the house of Umm al-Mu'mineen, our mother Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, and there was a boy crying in the house. People said: He has been afflicted by the evil eye. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Why do you not perform ruqyah (incantation) for him?"
