Hadith 1671
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The needy person is not the one who goes from house to house begging, receiving a morsel here and two morsels there, a date here and two dates there." The Companions asked: "Then, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the needy person?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who does not possess enough wealth to fulfill his needs, whose condition is not known to people so that they may give him charity, and who does not stand to beg from others."
Hadith 1672
It is narrated from Umm Bajid (Hawwa) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Give to the poor, whatever is available, even if it is a burnt hoof."
