بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي السُّنَّةِ فِي الْفِطْرَةِ
Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Sunnah of Fitrah (Natural Disposition)
Hadith 1667
وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " خَمْسٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ : تَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ، وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ، وَنَتْفُ الْإِبِطِ، وَحَلْقُ الْعَانَةِ، وَالْاخْتِتَانُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that five things are from the natural Sunnah: cutting the nails, trimming the moustache, plucking the hair of the armpits, shaving the hair below the navel, and circumcision.
Hadith 1668
وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوَّلَ النَّاسِ ضَيَّفَ الضَّيْفَ، وَأَوَّلَ النَّاسِ اخْتَتَنَ، وَأَوَّلَ النَّاسِ قَصَّ الشَّارِبَ، وَأَوَّلَ النَّاسِ رَأَى الشَّيْبَ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ مَا هَذَا ؟ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : وَقَارٌ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ زِدْنِي وَقَارًا " .
Said al-Musayyib that it was Ibrahim (peace be upon him) who first hosted a guest, and he was the first to perform circumcision, and the first to trim the mustache, and the first to see a white hair and say: "O Lord! What is this?" Allah, Glorious and Exalted, said: "This is dignity and respect." Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: "So O Lord! Increase me in dignity."
Hadith 1668B1
قَالَ يَحْيَى : وَسَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا، يَقُولُ : يُؤْخَذُ مِنَ الشَّارِبِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ طَرَفُ الشَّفَةِ وَهُوَ الْإِطَارُ، وَلَا يَجُزُّهُ فَيُمَثِّلُ بِنَفْسِهِ
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that the moustache should be trimmed so much that the edges of the lips become visible, but it should not be trimmed off completely.
