Hadith 1658
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned the matter of lowering the izar, I asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! What should a woman do? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "She should lower her izar by one span." Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: That much will still leave her exposed. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "She should lower it by one hand's length, and no more than that."
