بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ لِلْمَدِينَةِ وَأَهْلِهَا
Chapter on supplication for Madinah and its people
Hadith 1593
وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْن يَحْيَى، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَالِك، عَنْ إِسْحَاق بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ، وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي صَاعِهِمْ وَمُدِّهِمْ " ، يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Lord! Grant blessing in the measure of the people of Madinah, and grant blessing in their sa’ and in their mudd."
Hadith 1594
وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : كَانَ النَّاسُ إِذَا رَأَوْا أَوَّلَ الثَّمَرِ جَاءُوا بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِذَا أَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي ثَمَرِنَا، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مَدِينَتِنَا، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مُدِّنَا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَبْدُكَ وَخَلِيلُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ، وَإِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ، وَإِنَّهُ دَعَاكَ لِمَكَّةَ وَإِنِّي أَدْعُوكَ لِلْمَدِينَةِ بِمِثْلِ مَا دَعَاكَ بِهِ لِمَكَّةَ وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ "، ثُمَّ يَدْعُو أَصْغَرَ وَلِيدٍ يَرَاهُ فَيُعْطِيهِ ذَلِكَ الثَّمَرَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when people would see the first fruit, they would bring it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) would take it and say: “O Lord! Bless our fruits, and bless our city, and bless our sa‘ (a measure), and bless our mudd (a smaller measure). O Lord! Indeed, Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was Your servant, Your friend, and Your prophet, prayed for Makkah, and I pray to You for Madinah, and I am Your servant and prophet, just as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) prayed for Makkah, and as much again with it.” Then he (peace be upon him) would call the youngest child present and give that fruit to him.
