Hadith 1465
It is narrated from Sharjeel bin Saeed bin Saad bin Ubadah that Sayyiduna Saad bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) went out for jihad with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). His mother was about to die in Madinah. People said to her: Make a will. She said: What should I bequeath? The wealth belongs to Sayyiduna Saad (may Allah be pleased with him). Then she died before Sayyiduna Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) returned. When Sayyiduna Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) came, people informed him. Sayyiduna Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): If I give charity on behalf of my mother for the sake of Allah, will she benefit from it? The Messenger of Allah said: "Yes." Then Sayyiduna Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Such and such gardens are charity on behalf of my mother.
Hadith 1466
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that his mother passed away suddenly; if she had been able to speak, she would certainly have given charity. Should I give charity on her behalf? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
Hadith 1467
An Ansari man gave some date-palm trees in charity on behalf of his parents. Then his parents died, and that same man became their heir. He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "You have received the reward of charity, now take it as inheritance."
