Hadith 1446
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should prevent his neighbor from fixing a wooden peg in his wall." Then Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: What is the matter that you do not listen attentively to this hadith? By Allah! I will surely make it well known.
Hadith 1447
It is narrated from Yahya Mazni that Dhahhak bin Khalifah dug a canal from 'Arid (a valley in Madinah), passing through the land of Muhammad bin Maslamah. He (Muhammad) forbade it. Dhahhak said: Why do you forbid it? You will benefit from it; you may water your land first and last, and there will be no harm. Muhammad did not agree. Dhahhak reported this to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called Muhammad bin Maslamah and said: Allow it. Muhammad said: I will not allow it. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you prevent your Muslim brother from something in which there is benefit for him and also benefit for you? You may also take water first and last, and there will be no harm to you. Muhammad said: By Allah! I will not allow it. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The canal will be made to flow even if it passes over your belly. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered Dhahhak to let the canal flow through the land of Muhammad bin Maslamah. Dhahhak did so.
Hadith 1448
It is narrated from Yahya Mazni that a canal used to flow through my grandfather's garden, belonging to Abdur Rahman bin Awf. Abdur Rahman wanted to divert it to the other side of the garden because it was closer to his land, but the owner of the garden, that is, my grandfather, did not permit it. Abdur Rahman mentioned this to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) granted permission.
