Hadith 1121
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and there were traces of yellow on him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this?" He replied that he had married an Ansari woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What did you give as mahr?" He said: "Gold equal to the weight of a date stone." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give a wedding feast (walimah), even if it is with only one goat."
Hadith 1122
Yahya ibn Sa'id said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to give a wedding feast (walima) in which there was neither bread nor meat.
Hadith 1123
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you is invited to a wedding feast, he should attend."
Hadith 1124
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: The food of the wedding feast is the worst of all foods; in it, the rich are invited and the poor are left out. And whoever does not attend the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.
Hadith 1125
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that a tailor invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a meal that he had prepared. I also went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The tailor brought barley bread and a dish of gourd (pumpkin). I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would look for pieces of gourd in the bowl and eat them. From that day, I also began to like gourd.
