Hadith 1068
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that we performed sacrifice in the year of Hudaybiyyah: a camel on behalf of seven people, and a cow was slaughtered on behalf of seven people.
Hadith 1069
It is narrated from Hazrat Amarah bin Sayyad that Ata bin Yasar informed him, having heard from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who used to say: We used to offer one goat as sacrifice on behalf of ourselves and all our household, but later, considering it a matter of pride, people started offering one goat for each individual.
Hadith 1069B1
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: What I have heard best in this chapter is that a man should slaughter a camel, cow, or goat that he owns on behalf of himself and his household, and include all people in the reward. However, the situation where a man buys a camel, cow, or goat and several people share in the sacrifice—meaning he takes a portion of the price from each and gives meat accordingly—is disliked. We have heard that partnership in sacrifice is not permissible; rather, one sacrifice can be made on behalf of the people of a household.
Hadith 1070
It is narrated from Ibn Shihab that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, never offered more than one camel or one cow as sacrifice on behalf of himself and his household.
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I do not remember whether Ibn Shihab said one camel or one cow.
