It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul! I wished that I fight in the way of Allah, then be killed, then be brought to life, then be killed, then be brought to life, then be killed." Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: I bear witness to this three times that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said exactly this.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah will smile on the Day of Resurrection at two persons, both of whom will enter Paradise, though one killed the other. One person fought in the way of Allah and was killed, then Allah had mercy on his killer, and he became a Muslim, fought in jihad, and was martyred."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! No person is wounded in the way of Allah—and Allah knows best who is wounded in His way—but he will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wound bleeding; its color will be the color of blood, but its fragrance will be the fragrance of musk."

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say: O Lord! Do not let me be killed by the hand of a person who has performed even a single prostration to You, so that because of that prostration he may argue with me before You on the Day of Resurrection.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! If I am killed in the way of Allah, in a state that I am patient, sincere, facing forward, not turning my back, will Allah forgive my sins?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes." When that man turned back, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called him again or ordered him to be called, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "How did you say?" He repeated his statement, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes, except for debt, Jibreel (peace be upon him) said this to me."

It is narrated from Abu Nazr that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said regarding the martyrs of the Battle of Uhud: "These are the people for whom I bear witness." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, said: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! Are we not their brothers? We accepted Islam as they accepted Islam, and we fought in jihad as they fought in jihad. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Yes, but I do not know what you will do after me." Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, began to weep, and he wept and said: We will remain alive after you, peace and blessings be upon him.

It is narrated from Yahya bin Saeed that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was sitting while a grave was being dug in Madinah. A man looked at the grave and said: "What a bad place this is for a Muslim." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You have said a bad thing." The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! I meant that being killed in the way of Allah is better than this." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, there is nothing equal to being killed in the way of Allah, but there is no place on the whole earth where I would prefer my grave to be than Madinah," three times. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this.
