It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Safiyyah got her menses, so it was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said: "Is she going to hold us back?" The people said: She has already performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah. He (peace be upon him) said: "Then no."

The women said: Yes, she has. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then let us go."

It is narrated from Hazrat Amrah bint Abdur Rahman that when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) performed Hajj with women and she feared that they might start menstruating, she would send them on the Day of Sacrifice for the Tawaf al-Ifadah. When they had completed the Tawaf al-Ifadah, if menstruation began for them, she would not wait for them to become pure, rather she would depart.

Hisham said, 'Urwah said, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When we used to mention this, if it was not beneficial to send the women off for tawaf beforehand, then why would people send them? And if it were correct, as people think, that staying for the farewell tawaf is obligatory, then more than six thousand women would have been lying in Mina in a state of menstruation, waiting for the farewell tawaf.

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if a woman gets her menses in Mina, she should stay there until she performs the Tawaf al-Ifadah, and if she gets her menses after performing the Tawaf al-Ifadah, then she may return to her city, because a concession from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has reached us regarding a menstruating woman.
It is narrated from Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman that Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and she had experienced menstruation or childbirth after performing the Tawaf al-Ifadah on the Day of Sacrifice. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) granted her permission, and she departed.
