Hadith 899
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ
نَافِعٍ ، " أَنَّ
عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، كَانَ
يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ وَالصُّبْحَ بِمِنًى، ثُمَّ يَغْدُو إِذَا طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ إِلَى عَرَفَةَ " .
It is narrated from Nafi that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to perform the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers in Mina. Then, in the morning, when the sun would rise, he would proceed to Arafat.
Hadith 899B1
قَالَ مَالِك : وَالْأَمْرُ الَّذِي لَا اخْتِلَافَ فِيهِ عِنْدَنَا، أَنَّ الْإِمَامَ لَا يَجْهَرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ فِي الظُّهْرِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، وَأَنَّهُ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، وَأَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ ظُهْرٌ، وَإِنْ وَافَقَتِ الْجُمُعَةَ، فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ ظُهْرٌ، وَلَكِنَّهَا قَصُرَتْ مِنْ أَجْلِ السَّفَرِ .
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: In our view, it is agreed upon that the Imam should not recite aloud in the Zuhr prayer at Arafat, and he should deliver a sermon on the day of Arafah, and the prayer of Arafah is in fact the Zuhr prayer, but it is shortened due to travel.
Hadith 899B2
قَالَ مَالِك فِي إِمَامِ الْحَاجِّ إِذَا وَافَقَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، أَوْ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ، أَوْ بَعْضَ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ : إِنَّهُ لَا يُجَمِّعُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْأَيَّامِ
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if the day of Arafah falls on a Friday, or if the Day of Sacrifice or the Days of Tashreeq coincide with Friday, then the Friday prayer should not be performed on those days.
