It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say when he came out of Masjid al-Haram towards Safa: "We begin with that which Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, began with." So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, began the Sa'i from Safa.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on Safa, he would say Allahu Akbar three times and say: "There is no true deity except Allah, alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things." He would say this three times and make supplication, then upon reaching Marwah, he would do the same.

Nafi' heard from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), that he used to supplicate on Safa: O Lord! You have said, "Supplicate and I will accept," and You do not break Your promise. I ask You, just as You have guided me to the path of Islam, so do not separate me from Islam until I die, so that I may die as a Muslim.
