بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي بِنَاءِ الْكَعْبَةِ
What is Reported Regarding the Building of the Kaaba
Hadith 804
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ ، أَخْبَرَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَلَمْ تَرَيْ أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حِينَ بَنَوْا الْكَعْبَةَ اقْتَصَرُوا عَنْ قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَلَا تَرُدُّهَا عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْلَا حِدْثَانُ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ لَفَعَلْتُ " . قَالَ : فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَا أُرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَرَكَ اسْتِلَامَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانِ الْحِجْرَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يُتَمَّمْ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your people built the Ka'bah, they made a deficiency in it from how Ibrahim (peace be upon him) had built it." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Why do you not build it as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) had built it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If your people’s disbelief had not been so recent, I would have done so." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Perhaps for this reason the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not touch the Sham and Iraqi corners which are adjacent to the Hatim, because the Ka'bah was not upon the foundation of Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
Hadith 805
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا أُبَالِي أَصَلَّيْتُ فِي الْحِجْرِ أَمْ فِي الْبَيْتِ "
It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that Ummul Momineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I do not see any difference between praying inside the Ka'bah or in the Hatim.
Hadith 806
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ بَعْضَ عُلَمَائِنَا ، يَقُولُ : " مَا حُجِرَ الْحِجْرُ فَطَافَ النَّاسُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ ، إِلَّا إِرَادَةَ أَنْ يَسْتَوْعِبَ النَّاسُ الطَّوَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ كُلِّهِ "
Ibn Shihab heard from some scholars, who said: A wall was raised around the Hatim and it was included in the Tawaf, so that the Tawaf of the entire Ka'bah would be completed.
