Hadith 770
It is narrated from Sulayman bin Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent his freed slave Abu Rafi’, may Allah be pleased with him, and a man from the Ansar. Both of them conducted his marriage with Lady Maymunah bint al-Harith, may Allah be pleased with her, while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was in Madinah before departing.
Hadith 771
It is narrated from Nabiya bin Wahb that Umar bin Ubaidullah sent him to Sayyiduna Aban bin Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Aban (may Allah be pleased with him) was, in those days, the leader of the pilgrims, and both of them were in the state of ihram. He sent a message saying that I wish to arrange the marriage of Talha bin Umar with the daughter of Shaibah bin Jubair, so you also come. Sayyiduna Aban (may Allah be pleased with him) refused this and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "A person in ihram should neither marry himself nor arrange the marriage of another, nor send a proposal for marriage."
Hadith 772
It is narrated from Abu Ghatfan bin Tarif that his father Tarif married a woman while in the state of ihram, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) invalidated it.
Hadith 773
It is narrated from Nafi‘ that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to say: A person in the state of ihram should neither marry himself, nor send a marriage proposal for himself or for someone else.
Hadith 774
It reached Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, that Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, Salim ibn 'Abdullah, and Sulayman ibn Yasar were asked about the marriage of a muhrim (one in the state of ihram), and all of them said that a muhrim should neither marry himself nor arrange marriage for another.
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that a muhrim may take back his wife (i.e., revoke a revocable divorce) if he wishes, as long as the woman is still in her waiting period ('iddah).
