It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I used to apply perfume to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at the time of his Ihram, before he entered into Ihram, and at the time of ending Ihram, before the Tawaf al-Ziyarah.
Hadith 723
It is narrated from Ata bin Abi Rabah that a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was in Hunain, and the Bedouin was wearing a shirt that had a yellow mark on it. So he said: O Messenger of Allah! I have made the intention for Umrah, so what should I do? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Take off your shirt and wash the yellow color from your body, and do in Umrah what you do in Hajj."
Hadith 724
It is narrated from Hazrat Aslam, who was the freed slave of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) smelled fragrance while he was at Shajarah (which is six miles from Madinah), so he asked, "From whom is this fragrance coming?" Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "From me, O Commander of the Faithful!" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes, I ask you by Allah, the Everlasting." Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) applied the fragrance on me, O Commander of the Faithful!" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I ask you to go and wash it off."
Hadith 725
It is narrated from Hazrat Salit bin Zubayd that he heard from some of his relatives that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) smelled fragrance while he was in Shajrah, and Kathir bin Salit was beside him. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: From whom is this fragrance coming? Kathir said: From me. I had set my hair because I did not intend to shave my head after exiting ihram. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Go to the sharbah and rub and wash your head. So Kathir bin Salit did so.
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sharbah refers to that pit which is near the date-palm tree and is filled with water.
Hadith 726
It is narrated from Yahya bin Saeed, Abdullah bin Abi Bakr, and Rabee'ah bin Abi Abdur Rahman that Al-Waleed bin Abdul Malik asked Salim bin Abdullah and Kharijah bin Zaid about applying perfume after throwing the pebbles and shaving the head, but before performing the Tawaf al-Ifadah. Salim forbade it, while Kharijah bin Zaid bin Thabit permitted it.
Hadith 726B1
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that if a person applies such oil before entering into ihram, or before performing the tawaf al-ifadah, after throwing the pebbles, in which there is no fragrance, then there is no objection.
Hadith 726B2
Imam Malik was asked whether a muhrim may eat food in which saffron has been put. He replied: If it has been cooked with fire, it is permissible; otherwise, it is not permissible.
