بَابُ مَا يُنْهَى عَنْهُ مِنْ لُبْسِ الثِّيَابِ فِي الْإِحْرَامِ
Chapter on what is prohibited of clothing in ihram
Hadith 711
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَلْبَسُوا الْقُمُصَ ، وَلَا الْعَمَائِمَ ، وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَاتِ ، وَلَا الْبَرَانِسَ ، وَلَا الْخِفَافَ إِلَّا أَحَدٌ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ خُفَّيْنِ وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ ، وَلَا تَلْبَسُوا مِنَ الثِّيَابِ شَيْئًا مَسَّهُ الزَّعْفَرَانُ وَلَا الْوَرْسُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): What clothes should a Muhrim wear? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not wear a shirt, nor tie a turban, nor wear trousers, nor a cap, nor leather socks, except if someone does not find sandals, then he may wear his leather socks, and cut them so that the ankles remain uncovered, and do not wear those clothes which have been dyed with saffron or wars."
Hadith 711B
قَالَ يَحْيَى : سُئِلَ مَالِك عَمَّا ذُكِرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا فَلْيَلْبَسْ سَرَاوِيلَ " فَقَالَ : لَمْ أَسْمَعْ بِهَذَا ، وَلَا أَرَى أَنْ يَلْبَسَ الْمُحْرِمُ سَرَاوِيلَ ، لِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ السَّرَاوِيلَاتِ ، فِيمَا نَهَى عَنْهُ مِنْ لُبْسِ الثِّيَابِ الَّتِي لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُحْرِمِ أَنْ يَلْبَسَهَا ، وَلَمْ يَسْتَثْنِ فِيهَا كَمَا اسْتَثْنَى فِي الْخُفَّيْنِ
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about the hadith narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever does not find an izar (lower garment), then let him wear trousers." Is it permissible to wear trousers when an izar is not available? Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, replied: I have not heard this hadith, and in my view, a muhrim should not wear trousers, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade wearing trousers, and did not make an exception for it as he made an exception for leather socks.
