Hadith 699
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed Zakat al-Fitr as one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley upon the people, whether free or slave, male or female, from among the Muslims.
Hadith 700
Hazrat Iyad bin Abdullah heard from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him: We used to give Sadaqat al-Fitr as one sa' of wheat, or one sa' of barley, or one sa' of dates, or one sa' of cheese, or one sa' of dried grapes, according to the sa' of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 701
It is narrated from Nafi‘ that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to always give dates as Sadaqat al-Fitr, except for one time when he gave barley.
Hadith 701B
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: All expiations, charities, and zakat are to be calculated according to the smaller mudd, that is, the mudd of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, except for the expiation of zihar, which is according to the larger mudd, that of Hisham bin Abdul Malik.
