Hadith 636
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf in the middle ten days (the second ten days) of Ramadan. Then one year he observed i'tikaf, and when the twenty-first night came, on the morning of which he (peace be upon him) would come out of i'tikaf, he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever has observed i'tikaf with me should continue and observe i'tikaf for the last ten days (the third ten days), and I was made to know about Laylat al-Qadr, then I was made to forget it. I think I saw myself prostrating on the morning of Laylat al-Qadr in mud and water. So seek it in the last ten nights, in every odd night." Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said that on that very night it rained, and the roof of the mosque was made of leaves and branches, so the mosque dripped. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My two eyes saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he finished the prayer and there was a mark of mud and water on his blessed forehead and nose, on the morning of the twenty-first night.
Hadith 637
It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan."
Hadith 638
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last seven nights of Ramadan."
Hadith 639
It is narrated from Abu al-Nadr that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Unais al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! My house is far, so appoint for me a night in which I may stay in this mosque and worship. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The twenty-third night in Ramadan."
Hadith 640
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to us and said: "The Night of Qadr was made known to me, but two men argued and I forgot it. So seek it on the twenty-first, twenty-third, and twenty-fifth night, or on the twenty-ninth, twenty-seventh, and twenty-fifth night."
Hadith 641
It reached Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, that some of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, saw Laylat al-Qadr in a dream during the last seven nights of Ramadan. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I see that your dreams agree with my dream regarding the last seven nights of Ramadan. So whoever among you wishes to seek Laylat al-Qadr, let him seek it in the last seven nights."
Hadith 642
It is narrated from Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, that he heard from a reliable person, who said: The ages of the previous people were shown to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as much as Allah willed. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, considered the ages of his Ummah to be short and thought that these people would not be able to perform deeds equal to theirs. Therefore, Allah Almighty granted the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the Night of Qadr, which is better than a thousand months.
Hadith 643
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was informed that Sa'id bin al-Musayyib used to say: Whoever is present at the 'Isha congregation on the Night of Qadr has attained the reward of the Night of Qadr.
