Hadith 627
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed that Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) became old to the extent that he could not fast, so he would give fidya (compensation).
Hadith 627B
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: In my view, paying fidya is not obligatory except for the one who has the ability to pay it; for such a person, it is better to give it. Whoever gives fidya should give one mudd of food for each fast, according to the mudd of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 628
It reached Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, was asked about a pregnant woman who fears for her pregnancy and cannot fast. He said: She should not fast, and for each day she misses, she should give one mudd of wheat to a poor person, according to the mudd of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 628B
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The people of knowledge have said: Making up (the fast) is obligatory upon her, but not expiation, as Allah the Exalted has said: "Whoever among you is ill or on a journey, then (let him fast) a number of other days." And this fear due to pregnancy is also an illness among illnesses.
Hadith 629
It is narrated from Hazrat Qasim bin Muhammad, he used to say: Whoever is obliged to make up missed fasts of Ramadan but does not do so until the next Ramadan comes, and he was able to fast, then for each missed fast he should give one mudd of wheat to a needy person and also make up the fast.
Hadith 630
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) also received the same from Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him).
