Hadith 599
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out for Makkah in the year Makkah was conquered, during Ramadan, and he fasted until he reached Kudaid. Then he broke his fast, so the people also broke their fast. And it was the practice of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, that they would adopt a new action, then from that, a new one, in the actions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 600
It is narrated from some of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered the people not to fast during travel in the year Makkah was conquered. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "So that you may remain strong in facing the enemy." And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, himself kept the fast. Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman said: The Companion who narrated this hadith to me told me that I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at ‘Arj, and water was being poured over his head because of thirst or because of the heat. Then it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that some people have also kept the fast because you are fasting, so when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, reached Kudayd, he called for a bowl of water and drank it, then the people also broke their fast.
Hadith 601
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that we traveled with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in Ramadan, and neither did the fasting person find fault with the one who broke the fast, nor did the one who was not fasting find fault with the fasting person.
Hadith 602
It is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair that Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Amr Aslami, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: I observe fasts, so should I fast while traveling? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you wish, then fast; if you wish, then do not fast."
Hadith 603
It is narrated from Nafi‘ that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) did not fast while traveling.
Hadith 604
It is narrated from Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah that Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair used to travel during Ramadan, and we used to travel with him, so Hazrat Urwah would fast and we would not fast, yet he would not order us to fast.
