Hadith 586
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a man spoke to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing at the door and I was listening: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Morning comes and I am in a state of major impurity (junub) with the intention of fasting.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I also become junub and morning comes while I have the intention of fasting, so I perform ghusl and keep the fast.” That man said: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What about you, you are not like us; Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has forgiven all your past and future sins.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I hope that I am the most God-fearing among you and the most knowledgeable of you regarding matters of piety.”
Hadith 587
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), both said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would remain in a state of janabah due to intercourse, not due to a wet dream, and morning would come upon him in Ramadan, then he would fast.
Hadith 588
It is narrated from Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman that I and my father Abdur Rahman were both sitting with Marwan bin Hakam, and Marwan was the governor of Madinah in those days. It was mentioned to him that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whoever is in a state of major impurity (junub) and morning comes upon him, his fast is not valid. Marwan said: I make you swear, O Abdur Rahman! Go to Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and ask them about this issue. So Abdur Rahman went, and I went with him, until we reached Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Abdur Rahman greeted her with salam, then said: O Umm al-Mu’minin! We were sitting with Marwan bin Hakam, and it was mentioned to him that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whoever is overtaken by morning while in a state of major impurity, his fast is not valid. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: It is not as Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has said, O Abdur Rahman! Do you turn away from what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do? Abdur Rahman said: No, by Allah! Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I bear witness upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that morning would come upon him while he was in a state of major impurity due to intercourse, not due to a wet dream, then he would fast that day. Abu Bakr said: Then we left until we reached Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and we asked her about this issue, and she said the same as Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had said. Abu Bakr said: Then we left and came to Marwan bin Hakam, and Abdur Rahman conveyed to him the statement of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). Marwan said: I make you swear, O Abu Muhammad! Ride my animal which is at the door, go to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) for he is at his land in Aqiq, and inform him about this issue. So Abdur Rahman mounted, and I mounted with him, until we came to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Abdur Rahman spoke with him for a while, then mentioned this issue to him. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I did not know about this issue; rather, a person had narrated it to me.
