بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي تَحْزِيبِ الْقُرْآنِ
Chapter on what is reported regarding dividing the Qur'an into sections
Hadith 471
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ الْقَارِيِّ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ فَاتَهُ حِزْبُهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَرَأَهُ حِينَ تَزُولُ الشَّمْسُ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَفُتْهُ أَوْ كَأَنَّهُ أَدْرَكَهُ "
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abdul Qari that Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Whoever misses his nightly recitation (wird) and then recites it between dawn and the noon (zuhr) prayer, it is as if he did not miss it, rather he has attained it.
Hadith 472
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَنَا وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ جَالِسَيْنِ فَدَعَا مُحَمَّدٌ رَجُلًا ، فَقَالَ : أَخْبِرْنِي بِالَّذِي سَمِعْتَ مِنْ أَبِيكَ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ أَتَى زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : كَيْفَ تَرَى فِي قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ فِي سَبْعٍ ؟ فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ : " حَسَنٌ وَلَأَنْ أَقْرَأَهُ فِي نِصْفٍ أَوْ عَشْرٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ وَسَلْنِي لِمَ ذَاكَ " ، قَالَ : فَإِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ، قَالَ زَيْدٌ : " لِكَيْ أَتَدَبَّرَهُ وَأَقِفَ عَلَيْهِ "
It is narrated from Yahya bin Saeed that he said: I and Muhammad bin Yahya bin Haban were sitting, so Muhammad called a man and said: Relate what you have heard from your father. That man said: My father went to Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him, "How is it to complete the recitation of the Word of Allah in seven days?" He replied: "It is good, but in my view, completing it in fifteen or twenty days is better." He said, "Ask me why?" So I asked, "Why?" Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "So that I may understand it and remember it."
