Chapter on What to Do if One Arrives While the Imam is Bowing
Hadith 395
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " دَخَلَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْمَسْجِدَ فَوَجَدَ النَّاسَ رُكُوعًا فَرَكَعَ ثُمَّ دَبَّ حَتَّى وَصَلَ الصَّفَّ "
It is narrated from Abu Umamah bin Sahl that Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the mosque and found the Imam in bowing (ruku‘), so he performed ruku‘ and then walked slowly and joined the row.
Hadith 396
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ " كَانَ يَدِبُّ رَاكِعًا "
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to walk slowly while in bowing (ruku') in order to join the row.
