Chapter on Prohibition of Praying While Needing to Relieve Oneself
Hadith 380
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْأَرْقَمِ كَانَ يَؤُمُّ أَصْحَابَهُ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ يَوْمًا فَذَهَبَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقَالَ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِهِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ "
It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) used to lead his people in prayer. One day, when the prayer was ready, he went to relieve himself, then returned and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When any of you intends to relieve himself, he should relieve himself first and then perform the prayer."
Hadith 381
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : " لَا يُصَلِّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ ضَامٌّ بَيْنَ وَرِكَيْهِ "
Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: None of you should pray while holding back urine or stool.
