Hadith 327
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the year of the expedition of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would combine the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Then one day he delayed the Zuhr prayer, then came out and performed Zuhr and Asr together, then entered a place, then left from there and performed Maghrib and Isha together. Then he said: "Tomorrow, if Allah wills, you will reach the spring of Tabuk. So none of you should reach it until the day has risen. If any of you reaches that spring, he should not touch its water until I arrive." Then we reached that spring, and two persons from among us had already reached there, and there was a little water glistening in the spring. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked those two persons: "Did you touch its water?" They replied: "Yes!" So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became very angry with them. He said to them what Allah willed, and said to them what was appropriate. Then the people scooped a little water from the spring with their hands and collected it in a vessel, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) washed his face and both hands in it, then poured that water back into the spring. The spring then filled up and began to flow abundantly, so the people drank from it and gave water to their animals after that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is near, O Mu'adh! If your life is prolonged, you will see this water filling up gardens."
Hadith 328
It is narrated from Nafi‘ that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to travel quickly, he would combine Maghrib and ‘Isha prayers.
Hadith 329
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers together (i.e., he joined them), and the Maghrib and Isha prayers together (i.e., he joined them), without fear and without travel.
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In my opinion, perhaps this incident occurred at the time of rain.
Hadith 330
It is narrated from Nafi' that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would combine Maghrib and Isha prayers with the rulers at the time of rain.
Hadith 331
Ibn Shihab asked Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar: Is it permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr during travel? He replied: There is no harm in it. Have you not seen that at Arafat, Zuhr and Asr are combined?
Hadith 332
It is narrated from Hazrat Zain ul Abideen that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wished to travel during the day, he would combine Zuhr and Asr prayers, and when he wished to travel at night, he would combine Maghrib and Isha prayers.
