Hadith 322
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَتْ تُصَلِّي فِي الدِّرْعِ وَالْخِمَارِ "
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed that Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to pray in a shirt and with her head covered.
Hadith 323
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ
مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ قُنْفُذٍ ، عَنْ
أُمِّهِ ، أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ
أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَاذَا تُصَلِّي فِيهِ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ :
" تُصَلِّي فِي الْخِمَارِ وَالدِّرْعِ السَّابِغِ إِذَا غَيَّبَ ظُهُورَ قَدَمَيْهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her): "In how many clothes can a woman pray?" She replied: "In a khimar and a shirt, but the shirt should be so long that it covers the feet."
Hadith 324
Ubaidullah Khawlani, who was the adopted son of Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to pray wearing a shirt and a khimar (head covering), and she would not wear an izar (lower garment).
Hadith 325
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ
هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ
أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً اسْتَفْتَتْهُ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ الْمِنْطَقَ يَشُقُّ عَلَيَّ ، أَفَأُصَلِّي فِي دِرْعٍ وَخِمَارٍ ، فَقَالَ :
" نَعَمْ ، إِذَا كَانَ الدِّرْعُ سَابِغًا "
A woman asked Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that it is difficult for me to tie an izar, can I pray in a shirt and head covering? Urwah replied that yes, when the shirt is quite large.
