بَابُ الْعَمَلِ فِي السَّهْوِ
Chapter on actions in forgetfulness (salah mistakes)
Hadith 221
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي جَاءَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَلَبَّسَ عَلَيْهِ ، حَتَّى لَا يَدْرِيَ كَمْ صَلَّى ، فَإِذَا وَجَدَ ذَلِكَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, when any one of you stands for prayer, Satan comes to him and makes him forget his prayer, to the extent that he does not remember how many rak‘ahs he has prayed. So if any of you experiences this, he should perform two prostrations while sitting."
Hadith 222
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأَنْسَى أَوْ أُنَسَّى لِأَسُنَّ "
It reached Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I forget or I am made to forget, so that I may establish a way for my Ummah."
Hadith 223
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي أَهِمُ فِي صَلَاتِي فَيَكْثُرُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ ، فَقَالَ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ : " امْضِ فِي صَلَاتِكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَنْ يَذْهَبَ عَنْكَ حَتَّى تَنْصَرِفَ وَأَنْتَ تَقُولُ مَا أَتْمَمْتُ صَلَاتِي "
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed that a man asked Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr as-Siddiq: "I experience doubts in prayer, and I experience them a lot." So Qasim said: "Go and perform your prayer, and do not pay attention to the doubts, for the doubt will never leave you until you finish the prayer and have in your heart the thought that you have completed the whole prayer."
