It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up after praying two rak'ahs and did not sit down. The people also stood up with him. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) completed the prayer and we were waiting for his salam, he said the takbir while sitting before the salam and performed two prostrations, then gave salam.

And if he has already performed one sujud, he should not perform the second. Then he should recite the tashahhud and perform two sujud of forgetfulness after the salam.
