Comprehensive Chapter on Ghusl After Major Impurity
Hadith 116
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، كَانَ يَقُولُ : " لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ يُغْتَسَلَ بِفَضْلِ الْمَرْأَةِ ، مَا لَمْ تَكُنْ حَائِضًا أَوْ جُنُبًا "
Hazrat Nafi narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to say: There is no harm if a man performs ghusl with the water left over from a woman's purification, as long as the woman is not in menstruation or in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah).
Hadith 117
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ " كَانَ يَعْرَقُ فِي الثَّوْبِ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي فِيهِ "
Hazrat Nafi reports that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would sweat in a garment and he would be in a state of janabah, then he would perform prayer in the same garment.
Hadith 118
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ " كَانَ يَغْسِلُ جَوَارِيهِ رِجْلَيْهِ وَيُعْطِينَهُ الْخُمْرَةَ وَهُنَّ حُيَّضٌ "
The slave girls of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to wash his feet and hand him his prayer mat while they were in the state of menstruation.
Hadith 118B1
وَسُئِلَ مَالِك ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ لَهُ نِسْوَةٌ وَجَوَارِي هَلْ يَطَؤُهُنَّ جَمِيعًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ؟ فَقَالَ: لَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يُصِيبَ الرَّجُلُ جَارِيَتَيْهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ ، فَأَمَّا النِّسَاءُ الْحَرَائِرُ فَيُكْرَهُ أَنْ يُصِيبَ الرَّجُلُ الْمَرْأَةَ الْحُرَّةَ فِي يَوْمِ الْأُخْرَى ، فَأَمَّا أَنْ يُصِيبَ الْجَارِيَةَ ثُمَّ يُصِيبَ الْأُخْرَى وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about a man who has wives and slave-girls: can he have intercourse with all of them before performing ghusl? He replied: If he has intercourse with his slave-girl before performing ghusl, there is no harm in it, but with free wives, it is disliked to have intercourse with one after another without ghusl. However, if he has intercourse with one slave-girl, then before performing ghusl, has intercourse with another slave-girl, there is nothing objectionable in it. And he was asked.
Hadith 118B2
وَسُئِلَ مَالِك ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ جُنُبٍ وُضِعَ لَهُ مَاءٌ يَغْتَسِلُ بِهِ فَسَهَا ، فَأَدْخَلَ أُصْبُعَهُ فِيهِ لِيَعْرِفَ حَرَّ الْمَاءِ مِنْ بَرْدِهِ ، قَالَ مَالِك: " إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَصَابَ أُصْبُعَهُ أَذًى فَلَا أَرَى ذَلِكَ يُنَجِّسُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ "
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about a person in a state of major impurity who placed water for bathing, then forgot and put his finger in to check the coldness or warmth of the water. Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, replied: If there was no impurity on his finger, the water will not become impure.
