بَابُ غُسْلِ الْمَرْأَةِ إِذَا رَأَتْ فِي الْمَنَامِ مِثْلَ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ
Chapter on Ghusl of a Woman Who Sees a Dream Like a Man
Hadith 114
حَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : الْمَرْأَةُ تَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ مِثْلَ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَعَمْ ، فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ " . فَقَالَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ : أُفٍّ لَكِ وَهَلْ تَرَى ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ ، وَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ ؟ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): If a woman sees in a dream what a man sees, should she perform ghusl (ritual bath)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "Yes! She should perform ghusl." So Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her): Shame on you! Does a woman also see (such) a dream (i.e., does she also have a wet dream)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "May your right hand be covered in dust, and from where does resemblance come?"
Hadith 115
حَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ ، هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ ؟ فَقَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ "
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Allah is not shy of the truth. Is there a ghusl (ritual bath) upon a woman if she experiences a wet dream?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes, if she sees the fluid."
