بَابُ وَقْتِ الْجُمُعَةِ
Chapter on the time of Jumu‘ah (Friday prayer)
Hadith 12
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي سُهَيْلِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " كُنْتُ أَرَى طِنْفِسَةً لِعَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، تُطْرَحُ إِلَى جِدَارِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْغَرْبِيِّ . فَإِذَا غَشِيَ الطِّنْفِسَةَ كُلَّهَا ظِلُّ الْجِدَارِ ، خَرَجَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَصَلَّى الْجُمُعَةَ " . قَالَ مَالِكٌ وَالِدُ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ : ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَنَقِيلُ قَائِلَةَ الضَّحَاءِ
It is narrated from Malik bin Abi Amir Asbahi that he said: I used to see that a mat belonging to Sayyiduna Aqil bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was spread out under the western wall of the Prophet’s Mosque on Fridays. When the shadow of the wall would cover the entire mat, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) would come out and lead the Friday prayer. Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: After the prayer, we would come and sleep in place of the Duha (forenoon) prayer.
Hadith 13
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَازِنِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي سَلِيطٍ ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ، " صَلَّى الْجُمُعَةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ بِمَلَلٍ " . ¤ قَالَ مَالِك : وَذَلِكَ لِلتَّهْجِيرِ وَسُرْعَةِ السَّيْرِ
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Asid bin Amr bin Qais that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) performed the Friday prayer in Madinah and the Asr prayer at Mulal.
