Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked whether it is permissible to perform the stoning (rami) on behalf of a boy and a sick person. He replied: Yes, it is permissible, but the sick person should say the takbir in his tent at the appropriate time, and offer a sacrifice. Then, if the sick person recovers during the days of Tashreeq, he should perform the rami himself and offer a hady (sacrificial animal).
