Hadith 9
اُردوEn
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ إِسْحَاق بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ الْإِنْسَانُ إِلَى بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ فَيَجِدُهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ الْعَصْرَ "
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We used to perform the Asr prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Madinah, then one of us would go to the neighborhood of Banu Amr bin Awf and find them still performing the Asr prayer.

This locality is three miles from the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi) in Madinah, and what is meant here is the “settlement of Quba” itself, where the tribe of Banu Amr bin Awf resided, as is mentioned in the following narration. These people were engaged in agriculture, and after completing their necessary tasks, they would perform the ‘Asr prayer. In summary, it is understood that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would perform the ‘Asr prayer at its earliest time. It is also established that the prayer times in the mosques of all the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) were not identical, because they knew that there was flexibility in this matter.
