Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) went to his father, Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), and found him eating food, so he called Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am fasting. He said: In these days, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from fasting and commanded us to break the fast in these days.
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said that those days were the days of Tashreeq (i.e., the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah).
