Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, ordered Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, and Sayyiduna Habar bin Aswad, may Allah be pleased with him, when their Hajj was missed and they arrived on the tenth day, that they should perform Umrah, exit ihram, and return, then perform Hajj the following year and send a sacrificial animal (hady). If a sacrificial animal is not available, then they should fast three days during Hajj and seven days after returning home.
