بَابُ وُقُوْتِ الصَّلَاةِChapter on the times of prayer
Hadith 6
اُردوEn
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى : " أَنْ صَلِّ الظُّهْرَ إِذَا زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ ، وَالْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءُ نَقِيَّةٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَهَا صُفْرَةٌ ، وَالْمَغْرِبَ إِذَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ ، وَأَخِّرِ الْعِشَاءَ مَا لَمْ تَنَمْ ، وَصَلِّ الصُّبْحَ وَالنُّجُومُ بَادِيَةٌ مُشْتَبِكَةٌ ، وَاقْرَأْ فِيهَا بِسُورَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُفَصَّلِ "
It is narrated from Malik bin Abi Amir Asbahi that Sayyiduna Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote to Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, that: Perform the Zuhr prayer when the sun declines, and perform the Asr prayer while the sun is still white and clear, not allowing it to become yellow. And perform the Maghrib prayer when the sun sets. And delay the Isha prayer as long as you can stay awake. And perform the morning prayer while the stars are still clearly visible and dense, and recite two long surahs from the Mufassal in the Fajr prayer.

Benefit:
By "Mufassal" is meant the seventh section (manzil) of the Noble Qur’an, and in this entire section there are more than sixty surahs, and none of them is as long as a quarter of a juz (para). Therefore, the interpretation made by the Hanafis is completely incorrect and a clear deception, that the command of ‘Umar al-Faruq radi Allahu anhu to perform the Fajr prayer while the stars are still visible, i.e., in darkness, is only for those who wish to recite as long as Surah al-Baqarah.
Delaying the ‘Isha prayer until sleepiness comes does not mean that it should be performed even later than midnight, because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has clearly stated that «وقت الْعِشَاءِ إِلى نِصْفِ الليل» “The time for ‘Isha is until midnight.” [صحيح مسلم: 612]
