بَابُ جَامِعِ الْجَنَائِزِComprehensive Chapter on Funerals
Hadith 571
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ ، كَمَا تُنَاتَجُ الْإِبِلُ مِنْ بَهِيمَةٍ جَمْعَاءَ هَلْ تُحِسُّ فِيهَا مِنْ جَدْعَاءَ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ صَغِيرٌ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every child is born upon the religion of Islam, then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian, just as a camel is born whole from a healthy animal—do you find any among them that is mutilated?" The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What will be the state of those children who die in their childhood? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Allah knows best what they would have done when they grew up."
