Hadith 565
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ يَمُوتُ حَتَّى يُخَيَّرَ " قَالَتْ : فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ الرَّفِيقَ الْأَعْلَى " فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُ ذَاهِبٌ
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No prophet dies until he is given the choice." Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "O Allah! I choose the highest companions." Then I realized that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to depart from this world.
