Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I not tell you of the deed which is better for you than all your deeds, and which is highest in rank, and which is, in the sight of your Lord, the most excellent of all deeds, and better than spending gold and silver, and better than that you meet your enemy and strike his neck or he strikes your neck? The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Yes, do tell us. He said: The remembrance of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious. Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man does no deed which saves him more from Allah's punishment than the remembrance of Allah.
