It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that people were performing the morning prayer in the mosque of Quba, when a person came and said that during the night, Qur'an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and he was commanded to face the Ka'bah. Then those people turned towards the Ka'bah while still in prayer, and previously their faces were towards Syria.
