Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed that Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: When morning came and rain had fallen, rain fell by the command of Allah, then he would recite this verse: «﴿مَا يَفْتَحِ اللّٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِنْ رَحْمَةٍ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَا، وَمَا يُمْسِكْ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ﴾ [فاطر: 2]» meaning, "If Allah, Glorious and Exalted is He, wishes to show mercy to people, no one can withhold it, and if He wishes to withhold it, no one can grant it."
