بَابُ صَلَاةِ النَّافِلَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ بِالنَّهَارِ وَاللَّيْلِ ، وَالصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِVoluntary prayer during travel by day and night, and prayer on an animal
Hadith 350
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُصَلِّي مَعَ صَلَاةِ الْفَرِيضَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ شَيْئًا قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا ، إِلَّا مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْأَرْضِ ، وَعَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would not perform any voluntary (nafl) prayers along with the obligatory (fard) prayers during travel—neither before the obligatory prayers nor after them—except at night after dismounting on the ground, and sometimes he would perform voluntary prayers on his camel, even if the camel was not facing the qiblah.
