Hadith 34

Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that it reached me that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with them both, went to Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, on the day when Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, passed away. So Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman, may Allah be pleased with him, asked for water for ablution. Then Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: Complete the ablution thoroughly, for I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he used to say: "Woe to the heels from the Fire."

.......... That is, if the heels remain dry, they will be burned in the fire of Hell. Consider, this is the punishment for those who perform ablution (wudu) for prayer but fall short in completing it properly. So what will be the state of those who do not even approach prayer or ablution at all? In any case, the ruling for all the limbs of ablution is the same as for the heels; their specific mention is only because negligence in washing them is more common. Furthermore, this hadith is explicit evidence that when performing ablution, if socks (khuffayn) or stockings are not worn on the feet in a state of ablution, then it is obligatory to wash the entire foot. Wiping over bare feet is absolutely not permissible, and the act of the Shia of wiping over bare feet is a cause for Hell.
