بَابُ فَضْلِ صَلَاةِ الْجَمَاعَةِ عَلَى صَلَاةِ الْفَذِّChapter on the virtue of congregational prayer over individual prayer
Hadith 289
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ بِحَطَبٍ فَيُحْطَبَ ، ثُمَّ آمُرَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَيُؤَذَّنَ لَهَا ، ثُمَّ آمُرَ رَجُلًا فَيَؤُمَّ النَّاسَ ، ثُمَّ أُخَالِفَ إِلَى رِجَالٍ فَأُحَرِّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ بُيُوتَهُمْ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ أَحَدُهُمْ أَنَّهُ يَجِدُ عَظْمًا سَمِينًا أَوْ مِرْمَاتَيْنِ حَسَنَتَيْنِ لَشَهِدَ الْعِشَاءَ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul! I intended to order that firewood be gathered, then I would order for the prayer to be established, and the call to prayer be given for it, then I would appoint a man to lead the prayer and he would lead it, then I would go to those people who did not attend the congregation and burn their houses over them. By Him in Whose hand is my soul! If any of them knew that he would get a meaty bone or two good hoofs of a goat, he would surely come to the 'Isha prayer."
