It is narrated from Sa’ib bin Yazid that Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka’b and Sayyiduna Tamim Dari (may Allah be pleased with them both) to lead eleven rak’ahs in prayer. Sa’ib bin Yazid said that the imam would recite one hundred verses in each rak’ah, to the extent that we would support ourselves with sticks while standing, and we would not finish except near dawn.
