Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: If the imam leads the Friday prayer in a village where Friday prayer is not obligatory, then neither the imam's Friday prayer will be valid nor the Friday prayer of those who prayed with him, nor that of the villagers. Rather, those who are residents should complete their four rak'ahs.
