It is narrated from Hazrat Ata bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about the time of the morning prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. When the next day came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prayer at the break of dawn, as soon as true dawn appeared, in darkness. Then on the third day, he performed the Fajr prayer in brightness. He said: "Where is the person who asked about the time of the Fajr prayer?" And that person spoke up, "I am here, O Messenger of Allah!" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The time for the Fajr prayer is between these two."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abu Samee'ah
Benefit:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed the Fajr prayer at both its earliest and latest times on two different days, thus both of these times are valid for the Fajr prayer, and the time in between them is also the period for performing the Fajr prayer.
From this blessed hadith, the noble status of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) is also evident, in that they were so eager for religious knowledge. It is also understood that, due to some expediency, it is not always necessary to give an immediate answer to a questioner. Furthermore, responding through action is a Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and proves to be more effective, lasting, and far-reaching. Additionally, teachers should demonstrate broad-mindedness in granting students the honor of their company, companionship, and presence.
