It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Ma'dan that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, Glorious and Exalted is He, is gentle and loves gentleness, and is pleased and helps through gentleness in a way that He does not through harshness. When you mount these voiceless animals, then let them rest at their destinations. If the land is barren where there is no grass, then quickly move them on so that there remains some marrow in them. And make it a rule to travel at night, for the way is covered at night as it is not during the day. So when you stop at night, do not stop in the middle of the road, for there animals come and go and snakes also dwell."
